The Orioles have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Suk-Min Yoon to a three year $5.575 million contract. The deal includes various incentives to increase the value of the contract. Yoon was a free agent pitcher from Korea.
Yoon, 27, has spent parts of the last nine seasons on the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO). Yoon has a career KBO ERA of 3.19, a K/9 of 7.57, and a BB/9 of 2.75. He was a starter in Korea for numerous seasons and had his best season in 2011. Last year, Yoon dealt with a shoulder injury that relegated him to the bullpen in the closer role.
In order to make room for Yoon on the 40 man roster, INF/OF Jimmy Paredes was claimed off of waivers by the Kansas City Royals.
