Friday the 13th is supposed to be Jason’s day. At least, that’s what the scary movies told us. This particular Friday the 13th, though, was not a good day for Jason, and, depending on how the story unfolds on Saturday the 14th, the Orioles’ season could have just turned into a horror story.

The Orioles continued their woeful week with a 3-1 loss to the Nationals at home Saturday.
One day after watching teammate Jason Hammel 1-hit the Braves, Wei-Yin Chen (W, 7-2) took the mound for the Orioles, and took his turn stifling the Atlanta lineup.
Through 5 innings Friday in Atlanta, Orioles starter Brian Matusz had given up 5 hits (including 3 for extra bases) and 3 walks, but just 1 run. 5 strikeouts and a perfectly timed double play helped Matusz escape one jam after another. Then came the 6th.
It’s hard to tell what to take away from Jake Arrieta’s start against the Pirates Wednesday night at Camden Yards. Did the schedule/injury gods have mercy on him, handing him the worst offense in the game to face in a surprise return to the rotation?
