Deceptive delivery. Athletic. Played quarterback in high school. Good pitcher’s frame. Fairly safe delivery that should not cause major arm issues if he repeats it well. Keeps both arms below the shoulder girdle, keeps his body linear and never crosses it, and his plant is in line as well. Tends to reach back and “gear up” during his delivery: arm bends the elbow back towards first base, but it takes his entire arm with him — too much movement that has to be perfect to get him in the correct path. Shortens his follow through and decelerates after releasing the ball; would be better severed by fully turning the hips and planting his foot down. Should be able to add 15-20 pounds. If he learns to use his lower body more and really drive off and fully extend the follow through he could see an increase in velocity.
FB: 89-92 mph with mild deception; minor life.
CH: 78-83 mph average pitch that sometimes is easy to pick up out of the hand; slows down his delivery too much at times.
CV: 74-78 mph with average tilt; easy to pick up at times; much improved from last season; two-plane break at times.
Delivery Times: 1.43, 1.51, 1.51, 1.53, 1.57
