Scouting Report
A big, strong, imposing figure on the mound at 6’7″. Does not use his height to its full advantage with limited downhill plane on his pitches as a result of throwing from a 3/4 slot. Limited plane does allow him to showcase some lateral movement in this delivery, which can be slightly overextended at times. Fastball sits in the 91-93 mph range and he tends to keep the ball down in the zone. Sinker is his main emphasis, which is the reason he induces such a high ground ball rate. Uses a change and slider simply to off-set the sinker and keep hitters off balance, but lacks a swing and miss pitch. He is fairly accurate, keeps the ball down in the zone, limits walks and as such he can be an effective middle relief pitcher that would play well in Camden Yards.
