Has missed a lot of time throughout his minor league career, but looks to finally be healthy. Tall slugger with a good hitter’s frame. Good athlete but still has work to do behind the plate. Needs to improve footwork and blocking, although they have drastically improved in the past year. Above-average arm strength but struggles to make accurate throws; which can be fixed with improved footwork. Above-average raw power. Solid bat with a good approach and plate discipline. Swing is quiet through the zone; quiet load. Scouts have noted that the decision making at the plate has really improved over the past two years, which has led to his improved hitting performance. A better game-caller now than in the past, pitchers such as Zach Davies have noted how in-sync they are with Ohlman catching. Has potential to be a major league starting catcher, but will need to improve defensively and will need to show stability in terms of health and performance at the higher levels.
