Scouting Report
Nice pitcher’s frame. Projectable. High leg kick and a fairly deceptive delivery. At his best, fastball sits in the low 90′s. Curveball is above-average and flashes plus, with late bite. CB is a very effective pitch against right handed hitters. Changeup is average now, but has above-average potential. Can keep the ball in and around the strike zone, but struggles to hit spots & corners. While most pitchers establish themselves by commanding their fastball, Cowan does the opposite. Pitches backward. In most starts, 55%-60% of pitches are secondary offerings. Has some of the best pure stuff in the system, but lack of command and control will hold him back from becoming an ace.
