Scouting Report

Good bet to become a very good backup catcher, and quite possibly a starter, but he’ll have to do that somewhere else with Matt Wieters behind the plate. Has come a long way and should be able to stick behind the dish. Blocking and footwork have been smoothed out over the years. Good agility behind the plate. Average arm which will limit his defensive potential. He’s athletic enough to play 1B, or even the outfield in a pinch. Disciplined hitter who makes hard contact. Above-average power potential. Good pitch recognition. Hands are very quick to the inside pitch and he can drive the ball to left field.
