Scouting Report
Good pitcher’s frame. Fastball sits 91-94, touching 95, 96 with some late movement. Slider is an above-average pitch, flashing plus at times. Erbe’s hard foot plant and number of young starters ahead of him have many thinking he’ll end up in the bullpen. Tends to leave the slider out and over the plate which is why he gives up so many home runs. Changeup is still a below-average pitch. Needs to use it more and learn to work it in with his other pitches. The potential is there for it to become an average pitch. Throws the change with good arm speed but doesn’t control it as well as his other pitches, it’s inconsistent. O’s will let him start until he shows he can’t. If he can’t, he’ll fit in nicely as a reliever with his fastball/slider combo coming out of the bullpen.
