Wednesday Morning Rumors

Buster Olney reported on Twitter this morning that the Orioles are willing to listen to trade offers on Relief Pitcher Jim Johnson.  As many sources have reported, Johnson is set to make $10 Million Dollars, or more, in arbitration for the 2014 season.

Roch Kubatko in his blog this morning reported two different rumors. First, he mentioned that according to an article in a Puerto Rican newspaper that the Orioles are still interested and in the sweepstakes for Outfielder Carlos Beltran.

Second, Roch reported that the Orioles are close to an agreement with Second Baseman Ivan De Jesus Jr on a minor league contract.  The report indicates that the Orioles will not sign De Jesus Jr. until after the Rule 5 Draft just in case he is selected by another team. Otherwise, the Orioles would have to place him on the 40 Man Roster to protect him.

De Jesus Jr. has hit .300/.371/.396 in his minor league career. Last season for AAA Indianapolis (Pirates Affiliate)  he hit .319/.380/.451

De Jesus Jr. played in 48 major league games with both the Dodgers and Red Sox during the 2011 and 2012 seasons, batting .205/.253/.247.
