Orioles Nearing Deal With LHP Tsuyoshi Wada

The Orioles are nearing a deal with LHP Tsuyoshi Wada, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. The deal is reportedly for 2 years, $8.15MM with an option for the 2014 season, according to Jon Morosi of FoxSports.com.

Wada posted very respectable numbers for the Fukouka Softbank Hawks in 2011. He had an ERA of 1.51 in 184 IP. He is a “Dallas Braden” type pitcher with 86-87 MPH fastball, and a solid circle change and slider, according to Patrick Newman of Fangraphs and NPBTracker.

Wada will presumably fill a spot in the Orioles rotation, and provide much needed depth to a system without much help at pitching.
