The Orioles have announced that they designated RHP Rick Vandenhurk for assignment, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. This move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly signed Wilson Betemit.
Vandenhurk, 26, pitched only 25.1 innings for the Orioles. He posted a 6.04 ERA with a 1.579 WHIP. Vandenhurk was acquired by the Orioles in 2010 for Will Ohman
