Peter Angelos wants Andy MacPhail to Stay “In Advisory Role”

Andy MacPhail was expected to resign as O’s GM at the end of the season. When that announcement did not occur on Thursday, it created confusion as to the future status of MacPhail and the position of current Manager Buck Showalter.

But now we have a reason for the delay. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, O’s owner Peter Angelos is attempting to “convince MacPhail to remain with the team in either a decision-making capacity or advisory role.”

Rosenthal notes that the MLB prefers its non-playoff teams to hold off on major announcements during the playoffs, so a decision could be announced before today’s first playoff game at 5:07 PM.
