Catcher Luis Exposito suffered a broken hamate bone in AAA Norfolk’s game today, according to Steve Melewski of MASN.
Exposito was removed from the game in the 2nd inning after suffering the injury. The Orioles will need to replace his spot on the roster with another catcher. Some names that could be speculated are Brian Ward, Caleb Joseph, or another catcher from outside the organization.
Other notable players this season that have suffered a broken hamate bone are Scotty Beerer and Nick Markakis.
Exposito hit .059/.200/.059 in 21 plate appearances for the Orioles this season. He had a .286/.324/.371 batting line in 74 plate appearances for AAA Norfolk.
