GreenJackets Blank Shorebirds, 7-0

Michael Ohlman records three hits

Salisbury, Md. – The Augusta GreenJackets (23-24) used two home runs and a strong start by Adalberto Mejia to defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds (18-28) 7-0 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Friday night.

In the third inning, Chris Willoughby drew a lead off walk. Then, Jesus Galindo reached on a bunt single. Shawn Payne followed with a three run homer to left field.

In the sixth inning, Devin Harris connected on a two run homer to left field to stretch the lead to 5-0. Jeff Arnold hit an RBI single to score Jose Flores to increase the lead to 6-0.

The GreenJackets added a run in the seventh inning on a double by Jose Flores.

Shorebirds starter Zach Davies was pinned with the loss over five innings. He allowed three hits. Davies retired seven of the final eight batters faced.

Jesse Beal yielded four hits and three runs over one inning. David Baker allowed three hits and one run over two innings of relief.

Bobby Wilkins tossed a scoreless ninth inning for Delmarva.

GreenJackets starter Adalberto Mejia earned the win over eight strong innings. He surrendered five hits and no runs. Mejia struck out six and walked one.

Michael Ohlman anchored the offense with a 3-for-4 game. Mikey Planeta and Mychal Givens each had two hits.

The Shorebirds and GreenJackets will play the series finale on Saturday, August 11 at 7:05pm.
