Bundy Settles In

Right-Hander Goes Career-High 6 and 2/3rd Innings in Win

In front of Orioles General Manager Dan Duquette, Keys starter Dylan Bundy made a statement. Extended beyond five innings for the first time in his career, Bundy retired 16 of the final 17 he faced as the Keys rode the solid start to a 7-1 win in Lynchburg.

In an attempt to extend his innings limit in his first professional season the Orioles held Bundy to five or fewer innings in each of his first 17 starts. After his last start was suspended due to rain, finally Bundy got to stretch out in a game. He went 6 and 2/3rd innings allowing two hits and one unearned run while walking two and striking out eight batters in his start.

Lynchburg did score first as SS Nick Ahmed doubled with one down in the first inning. He would score on a fielding error by Keys 2B Travis Adair. Bundy then walked the leadoff batter in the second inning. After a caught stealing, Bundy struck out two batters to end the inning. That started a stretch of 16-of-17 retired to end his outing.

The Keys grabbed the lead on two errors by Hillcats starter Aaron Northcraft. In the second inning after a leadoff walk to Steve Bumbry, Northcraft threw an errant pickoff attempt. Bumbry got third base and scored on a RBI-groundout by Adair to tie the game. In the fourth inning, DH Jeremy Nowak walked and then Bumbry hit a slow groundball up the first base line. Northcraft barehanded and threw the ball down the line scoring Nowak and allowing Bumbry to head all the way to third base. He would score a batter later on an Adair RBI sac-fly.

In the eighth inning the Keys added four runs on a Bumbry 2-RBI double and another 2-run double by 3B Mike Mosby.

The series continues Thursday, August 1st at 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning 20-minutes earlier on 1450-AM The Source. RHP Devin Jones makes the start for Frederick looking for the sweep.

Bundy is slated to start for the Keys when they return home Tuesday, August 7th to take on the Lynchburg Hillcats in Frederick. First pitch is 7:00 p.m. For tickets contact the Box Office at 301-815-9939 or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
