Your trade would be a great one in terms of value for the Orioles and I'm still not sure we should do it. I not sold on Justin Upton as a superstar - my guess is that he'll be good, but not fantastically good (occasional AS teams, not every year). And there's risk involved too: what if he turns out to be
Nick Markakis take 2? is he still worth that package? or if he ends up as a perennial .800
OPS corner OF with mediocre defense? AZ is a pretty hitter-friendly environment, remember.
I'm not convinced we ought to be trading pitching. We have Guthrie and five good young arms. Injuries happen, one or more of them may not be able to cut it in the majors, etc. I'd stay the course on the grow the arms plan, myself.
