Players and Visa's

Players and Visa's

PostPost #1 by Tucker Blair » March 1st, 2012, 1:00 pm

I do not have an extensive knowledge on how difficult it is to gain access to a Visa for entering the country.
However, it seems to be fairly difficult for certain players, and it doesn't make sense to me. It seems as if quite a few players are late to camp due to visa issues. (Ronny Paulino JUST showed up today for the first time!)

Shouldn't clubs make sure they are ready before spring training gets rolling? Or do they not have enough power to do this? It's a touchy subject probably, but a guy like Paulino is really needed in camp as a Catcher. He needs to learn the pitchers and bond with them. Is there anything teams can do to speed the process up, or is it out of their hand?

It isn't really in their hands. It comes down to State Department granting the visa which can be a complicated and time consuming process.

No shows in ST:
Ryan Edell retired.
Dane Sardinha failed his physical.
Reyes released due to Visa problems.
Paulino is a no-show. His car isn't though.......

Luis Noel commented on Facebook earlier today that he would be late getting here. Assuming this is visa related, and not his first time around.
