Tyler Townsend Headed for Australia

Sources have indicated that Tyler Townsend, who was scheduled to play in the AFL in October, is now headed towards Australia for winter ball.

Really? That's interesting, I don't think there is a huge talent drop off in that new league though so it'll be ok for him. I'm wondering the other side of that domino who is going to the AFL in his place.

Correct. LJ Hoes, Mychal Givens, Brandon Waring and Ryohei Tanaka are going there as well.

Ah, got an email from a friend in the business. There has been an Australian league for 76 years but not official, and for a little while MLB had an official league there, but they disbanded that in 1999. Should be an advanced prospect level I get the impression. You should start seeing a lot of blue-chippers head there but I can't find any lists yet.

That's good to hear. I'd have to believe that sending players out of the country is a good experience off the field too.
