Minor League Free Agent Signings

Their first signee is outfielder Scott Beerer, 29, formerly a second-round pick of the Colorado Rockies in 2003 out of Texas A&M.

Beerer was selected as a pitcher, but the Rockies converted him to the outfield in 2008. According to this story, he moved to southern California after briefly retiring and began working on his swing with former Oriole Brady Anderson.

Beerer batted .290 with 18 doubles, 13 homers and 42 RBIs in 89 games at Double-A Tulsa this year, and .372 with 12 doubles, three homers, 28 RBIs and a .915 OPS in 41 games at Triple-A Colorado Springs. He's a right-handed hitter who batted .389 against right-handers after joining Colorado Springs.

Just from looking at his stats and researching about him it seems he is a better version of Adam Loewen.

A couple more minor league, six-year free-agent signings are trickling in.

The Orioles have agreed to minor-league deals with right-handed pitcher Miguel Socolovich and right-handed hitting infielder Steve Tolleson.

Socolovich, a 25-year-old from Venezuela, was a combined 3-2 with a 3.44 ERA at Double-A and Triple-A in the Chicago White Sox organization. He was originally signed by the Boston Red Sox, but has spent the last four seasons in the White Sox system. The majority of his career has been as a reliever.

Tolleson, 28, batted.275 last year with nine homers and 55 RBIs at Triple-A with the Oakland A’s and San Diego Padres organizations. A former fifth round pick of the Minnesota Twins, he played 25 games with the Oakland A’s in 2010, hitting .286 with one homer. He has played second, shortstop, third base and the outfield in the minors.

Tolleson another middle infielder that knows how to get on base. Socolovich was pretty good last year and his 11.5k/9 is pretty impressive.

Of course these aren't the big FAs some want to see signed, but I love the signings of Socolovich and Beerer.

Back to my post in the O's forum, Socolovich could help with that cheap pen. Like it, a lot.

Socolovich is okay, but he will have to tighten his command to make a dent for the parent club. He gets caught out in the open to much and can seriously get tagged because his stuff is not top tier to get away with mistakes.

He shows some swing and miss, but the top level will not chase it unless he can tighten up given that his offerings are in the low 90's. It is not a bad player to take a flyer on, but he still has to iron out the wrinkles to hit the majors.

I have to look, but Antoan Richardson was drafted out of high school by Baltimore. When he was at heritage, he was heavy watched... Not much has clicked and surprised he chose the Orioles because they have two with similar skill sets that might block his chance at the top.

Two guys that provide depth at Norfolk, but you need to round out the rosters with the lack of players under contract in AAA.

Antoan Richardson is one of only six players to come out of the Bahamas.

I've seen Fatse play before lol. I have a friend that lives around the area of Pittsfield and we went to see a game there.
Honestly, couldn't even remember if he did anything significant.

George Sherrill and Kirby Millar were independent league players. Sometimes these signings turn into something but usually they just turn into organizational players.
