Olney: O’s GM Candidates Includes LaCava, Jennings, Levin & More

With Andy MacPhail gone, the Orioles have begun their search for a new General Manager. Their current list includes Thad Levine, Josh Byrnes, J.P. Ricciardi, Tony LaCava, Gerry Hunsicker, Dan Jennings, and possibly more, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney.

The Orioles are gathering a group to perform the interviews, according to Olney.

I am pulling for LaCava.

Some names came off list during meeting w Angelos, showalter today. Others added back on. Others could b added If permission is denied

Of the Orioles suspected wish list, the only ones that hadn't been mentioned before were Reagins and Watson. Now permission round begins

It's pretty clear that Buck Showalter will have extensive influence in the selection of the Orioles' GM.

Unclear now whether there are frontrunners in the O's GM search,because the process just starting,according to short list of decision-makers

Nice call by Don as yesterday Olney said Dipoto is top candidate.

So looks like it will come down to Dipoto and LaCava. Like both of them, but Dipoto probably my choice if I had to pick one.

Also, because WS starts Wednesday and Dipoto and LaCava are being interviewed on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, I wonder if it could be announced on one of those days.

I honestly believe Dipoto will be the guy.

Are their any indications as to how many candidates are going to be interviewed for the gm position? I know that we have interviewed Dipoto and LaCalva and have Watson from the Dodgers coming in soon. Are their any other candidates scheduled to be interviewed? Is there a chance we can secure an interview with Jennings? What do you guys see as the time frame for this decision to be made?
