Robert Andino for 2b next season

Robert Andino for 2b next season

PostPost #1 by rjc3 » August 8th, 2011, 3:48 pm

If Roberts isn't ready by next season (likely, though) I would like to see Andino starting at 2b. He has not been amazing offensively this year but his .343 OBP is solid and I wouldn't mind having that in our lineup, along with his defense, on a regular basis.

Thoughts?

I personally feel the Orioles need to go into free agency with the idea Roberts will not play and plan accordingly. I could live with Roberts as a DH limiting the pounding his body would take if does play. He's obviously not a masher you look for at DH but we need more people on base for the guys who can hit em out anyway. I don't know if Andino is anything more than a back-up though so I'd prefer to find someone better overall.

I respect your opinion BUT if Robert Andino is the best we can do at 2B next year it will be ANOTHER LONG season.

If he means Andino vs. going out and spending on an average second baseman, then yes I'd like to see Andino. From what I understand Clint Barmes is the best 2B next year and I don't want to see him as an Oriole.

No thanks. I'll pass on this option. Move JJ to 2B and sign Reyes, give Adams or Miclat a shot. Andino? No thanks.

Andino is not the answer. What other MLB team would he start for??????? none.

I don't think the Orioles are going any where next year so why not just have him sit there until there looks like we have a chance of contending or some one in the organization looks like they could do a better job. I like Blake more than Andino but no reason why.

I know scouts are very high on his defense. He is a solid backup and a capable starter.

Agree that they should keep him until there is a clear better option.

I am not high on Davis though. I doubt he can even continue to post a .740 OPS.

If scouts are so high on him, why was there no one that wanted him at the trade dead line? We seem to be loaded with prospects at this position ie. blake davis, ryan adams, lj hoes.
