#12 Prospect - Tyler Townsend

You might misunderstand. I am suggesting that Snyder make this transition at AAA with the idea that he can be a super utility player on the 2012 MLB roster. That would open 1B for Mahoney and Townsend NOW.

Ah. I do indeed misunderstand. Yes, I'm on board with your suggestion.

Townsend is on the DL once again with a hamstring injury.

The Frederick Keys announced that first baseman Tyler Townsend has been placed on the disabled list.

This is Townsend's third time on the disabled list this season and the sixth time in his minor league career. All six stints have been due to hamstring injuries, which were never a problem for Townsend before joining the Orioles.

Unless they tweaked his running style and doubt they would tinker with it, hamstrings are genetic. There is not a thing you can do to really keep hammy in check. Lift, cut weight, add weight, keep heat on it and all of these things could be done to a "T" and still see hamstring problems.

He may have too much force in his quads and the balance between the two could be an issue, but nothing that I can see suggest it from the eyeball test. I assume with the massive amount of times this has happened, he has done things to correct the issue. Still this is really about the genes.

Maybe talk to the Mets and see how they fixed Jose Reyes' hamstring problems.

The Mets are at the root of his problem because they tried to tinker with his running style seasons ago. They caused the whole mess themselves and he was not a turtle before that point. It was to improve .05, who was already fast enough to still grade above average. Sometimes you can be too cute for your own good!

I thought the Mets tried to change his running style because of the injuries. I'm old(er) now but that is what I remember.
