Jonathan Schoop is a guy I have been following closely ever since he impressed me when I saw him in the GCL. Before he began to generate all of the hype, Schoop was busy playing on the backfields of Ed Smith Stadium, going unnoticed by the casual fan or prospect follower. After three games of watching Schoop, I was so impressed I posted a full scouting report on July 1, 2010. Months later he was listed on nearly every O’s top 10 prospects list.

Schoop has gotten a lot better with a more compact approach at the plate. He still rears his ugly noisy movements from time to time, but overall you see him taking coaching to the game. At his age and the coaching up ability, he is making huge strides this season.

In my book, he is now one of the top three prospects in the organization.

At which position do you see him ultimately playing?

Haven't seen him this season, so Don can probably provide a better answer. But best fit for him would be third base.

I think he can handle second or third in the future, but that cannon is impressive. I wonder out loud, if he is logged jam that I would tinker with the idea of putting him in right field from time to time. It will not diminish his value because he bat will likely play at any position.

I agree with your assessment but I would like to see him get at least 2,000 innings (regardless of the level) at his permanent position before he gets called up.
