Agreed, but then there's a reason he was available on the market. Right after he signed this was how I described him.

the inconsistent enigma that is Ubaldo Jimenez

IMO he'll average out as a solid #3 SP and, unless he completely tanks, the contract will remain trade-able. If this team tanks this summer - a VERY real possibility - but Jimenez is pitching well we could get a substantial return of quality players for him.

I just don't see him moved anytime soon. Even if he's playing poorly and Gausman, Wright and somehow Rodriguez look ready. SP depth is "Uber important" and no chance can the team be thinking deal already with so many unknowns.

Ubaldo Jimenez Career Stats By Month;

April/March; 5.21 ERA
May; 3.89 ERA
June; 3.17 ERA
July; 4.11 ERA
August; 4.29 ERA
Sept/Oct; 3.47 ERA

The dude is a slow starter. Don't lose hope; he's only done with 3% of his contract. He walks too many people to be a sustainable ace, but he'll go on runs where he'll be one of the best pitchers in the league IMO. Talk of trade right now is foolish; he's going to be a stable in the rotation for a long time.

The horrible heart breaking performance from Tommy Hunter last night distracted us from the gem Ubaldo Jimenez pitched. He now has a 0.46 ERA for May, and a 4.08 on the season.
