Ronnie Welty: Lost in Translation?

Ronnie Welty: Lost in Translation?

Ronnie Welty came in at #45 on the Orioles Nation top 50 prospect list for 2011. Jordan Tuwiner had the following to say about the 23-year-old outfielder who was taken by the Orioles in the 20th round of the 2008 draft: "...players who strikeout as much in A-ball as Welty did usually have trouble finding success in the upper levels of the minors."

What can we learn about Ronnie Welty's Australian Baseball League performance and what does he need to do to carry over his monster ABL season to Bowie?

How's his defense?

I honestly think this has a lot more to do with the ABL just not being good competition. But encouraging to see at least.

If he gets the Ks down to at least 25% that should be low enough, correct?

When he played on the Shore, I thought he was solid defensively. Above average arm, covers enough ground to be effective. It is not a weakness for him by any means, but he doesn't do anything defensively that wows you.
