Parker Bridwell has continued an improving year. With the season winding down, Bridwell has improved in every faucet of pitching from last year. He may need another year at Delmarva yet, but progress is progress. ERA is down from 5.98 to 5.24. WHIP is down from 1.618 to 1.461. FIP is down from 5.71 to 3.64. H/9 is down from 9.6 to 9.0. HR/9 is down from 1.2 to 0.6. BB/9 is down from 5.0 to 4.2. SO/9 is up from 5.6 to 9.2.
Me-thinks an adjusted role in the pen and moving up to Frederick is in order. Again, I don't want to be down on the guy but staying in Delmarva isn't going to yield much in the way of results. He's too old to be there now. The lower minors isn't the place to figure out command of breaking pitches. Either he has good enough command at this point or he doesn't. If he's a two pitch guy and it's iffy command at best. All the more reason to make him a reliever.
Well Mr Bridwell has gone 3 starts now without having a shocker is this a sign of turning things around and he has ironed a few things out or is he due a shocker next time up? Has anyone seen him start the last 3 times and seen what changes he has made or was it more a mental aspect that was affecting him?
His stats over the last 3 starts are 20ip 16h 4er 3bb 27k
On paper he looks like he made significant strides from 2012. Whip is still too high because of the walks but the progress he has shown is encouraging enough to think he has turned the corner. A+ in 2014 and who knows, maybe AA too.

He's right on the cusp of becoming a serious prospect. If you took away about six of his starts you would wonder why he's a top five prospect. Clearly, he allows himself to self destruct on occasion and the developmental staff needs to figure out why and give him guidance.
