This, one thousand times this. Points.

94 pitches with his "Stuff" should be 8 innings or a complete game. Until then he should toil away where he is.

You could legitimately describe our 2007 draft as "unfulfilled expectations" considering that Matt Wieters has turned out to be more Dave Duncan than "Mauer With Power" and Jake Arrieta is a head case, but look at what the Pirates chose with the pick AHEAD of Wieters.

By Steve Adams [June 24 at 9:49am CST]

The White Sox have released lefty Daniel Moskos from Triple-A Charlotte, according to the International League's transactions page. The 27-year-old posted a 4.97 ERA with 8.7 K/9 and 4.7 BB/9 in 29 relief appearances for the Knights. Those numbers are right in line with his career marks in 122 innings at Triple-A. Moskos, who was the No. 4 overall pick by the Pirates in the 2007 draft, has just 24 1/3 Major League innings under his belt -- all with the Buccos in 2011.

Then look at the first round that year. http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft ... ype=junreg Think they'd like to pick again?

So glad we gave away that 2nd pick that year so we could have Danny Baez. Wouldn't of wanted the pressure of picking Giancarlo Stanton among a couple others.

We gave up our third and fourth, too.

I think there is a good chance Jake Arrieta is in another organization by the next couple months.

I would like to see us package him, Strop, and either Wright or Rodriguez to the Cubs for Jeff Samardzija. The Cubs have the time to be patient on Arrieta and Strop and their upsides are as impact late relievers. Wright or Rodriguez are quality SP prospects that profile to be the kind of #3 or #4 SP innings eaters that the Cubs will need during their rebuilding process.

Unless the Cubs are offered a top ten prospect for him - which I seriously doubt - this would be about as good they would get.

He strikes out over a batter per inning, and has gotten significantly better since last year. Although 28 years old, Jeff Samardzija is in just his second year of starting in the majors. He could get even better, and is under contract through the 2015 season. He's a controllable stud; basically a #2 pitcher right now, that could grow into an ace IMO. There's no way the Cubs accept one POTENTIAL #3/4 starter, a used to be prospect with a lot of major league experience yet no major league success, and a reliever for two and a half more years of one of the best pitchers in the national league.

Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop both have nasty stuff. It's too bad neither of them can hit a spot, ever. But, they are certainly quality trade bait. The Cubs do indeed have the time to see if they work out, I just really think you package these two pitchers with a quality prospect, like Mike Wright, and recieve a pitcher much less valuable than Samardzija.

Cubs would cackle at that offer and never field a call from Duquette ever again.

Er, no. They might use it as a starting point, and the haggling might get beyond what we could afford in talent, but the Cubs would consider it. Samardzija is exactly the pitcher that osforlife described him as, but there are few organizations right now that have a surplus of young pitching that they would be willing to trade; and almost all of the teams that do are in a rebuilding mode.
