Balog would be an interesting pick. He seems to be gaining a lot of momentum from what I have read 8-)

BA has the Orioles taking Eric Jagielo. He'd instantly be our best 3rd base prospect.

A solid pick if it happens.

Callis also checked in with Steve Melewski of MASNsports.com about what we might see the Orioles do. In two of his three mock drafts so far, Callis has the O's taking South Carolina high school catcher Nick Ciuffo and the BA scribe says that he has gotten some A.J. Pierzynski comps.

Taking a catcher might be a good move. We could only have Wieters for two and a half more years.

We're really thin there in our farm system so a C would help, but I believe that the players we might consider are both HS so we couldn't expect them to be ready in 2016.

I was thinking that too. We may need a one year rental at catcher. Although our system lacks catching potential, it is good to see Sawyer, Ohlman, Joseph, and Ward hitting the ball well.

I think we would have taken him if he was available. The Rays nabbed him one pick before us. Looks like we get another power arm to go along with Gausman and Bundy in Hunter Harvey.

The Orioles have taken THREE HS catchers with their first seven picks. I hope they have a plan......

The Orioles took four catchers in the draft, and all four of them were taken in the first ten rounds. Austin Wynns, the Orioles 10th round pick, is the only college catcher of the four. I don't think this is an bad idea.
1. First of all, it's not a guarantee all four of them will sign.
2. Second of all, it's not a guarantee the catchers who remain in the organization remains catchers for long.
3. At the beginning of the 2014, if indeed all of them are in the organization catching, we have Florida, Aberdeen, Delmarva for the high school kids & and Frederick for Wynns.
4. From there, not all of them will hit, and not all of them will make it to AA.

Hopefully, one of them is the catcher of our future.
