Does anyone know what he is out with and when he is expected back?

Orioles minor league hitting prospect Nicky Delmonico, on the Single-A Frederick disabled list since April 19 with a concussion, has now been cleared by Major League Baseball to return to game action. He is heading to play some games in extended spring training before he rejoins an affiliate.

Hope that helps.

Should we be looking at delmonico in rf as a possible long term replacement for markakis?

We should be looking at Delmonico as the sort of limited but intriguing prospect that exists by the handful in every organization in baseball. He's a nice little prospect, it's good to have him, but he's still a single-A player with good but not great offensive stats and no position.

IMO that's a well articulated and objective opinion.

For a team that SHOULD consider defense first he projects as a future DH or a serious piece of trade bait. In fact, I wish we had three or four more like him because his kind look good to a rebuilding team that needs offense.

He has homered in back to back nights coming off the DL. You got to like that.

I know he needs a full season at 3rd, but he really is not performing well at all. But its good to see that it has not affected his offense. What are the chances of seeing him as the future at 1B or RF?

IMO his best position is bat. I would leave him at 3B because that gives him the most trade value.

Actually, yes. Some team that doesn't have much in their system will see him as a solution until they realize that his best position is bat. Until then he's worth more as a trade chip at 3B.
