Johnson (IMO) is right to go to arbitration and will likely gain a significant amount of money out of it. However, I don't see Johnson as one of those closers that stays in that role for 5+ years. Likely once he falters/fails in that role his paycheck spirals. How long will that be? I do not know but you can hardly blame the team for trying to save a few dollars.

I agree with your view on this matter. Hopefully the two sides will reach a mutual settlement before arbitration.
