The Orioles today announced that they have outrighted OF STEVE PEARCE to Triple-A Norfolk.

Pearce, 29, batted .254/.321/.437 in 28 games in two stints with the Orioles in 2012. Overall, he batted .229/.315/.396 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 40 games with Baltimore, Houston and the Yankees last season.

With the move, the Orioles now have 39 players on the 40-man roster.

Could there be a move coming?

So much for that Pearce/McLouth platoon some people thought was going to happen.

I might remind you that as long as he doesn't forsake his salary by declaring free agency he's still part of the organization.

McLouth and Pearce platooning could have been a viable solution. McLouth hits RHP well and Pearce hits LHP well. If management felt the best way to keep Reimold in the lineup was to DH against LHP instead of play him in Lf against LHP, then we'd essentially need somebody to platoon with McLouth. I highly doubt DD is gonna let McLouth's .649 OPS against LHP into the lineup when they are much better replacements. Perhaps Reimold and Pearce on the same roster isn't practical. The bench could very well now be:
1. Teagarden- backup catcher
2. Betemit- backup corner infielder/DH
3. Valencia- backup corner infielder/DH
4. Reimold- 4th outfielder/platoon LF
5. Casilla- backup middle infielder
