Why would trading for Porcello cost us STEVE Johnson?

Maybe because you said this:

If you want to center it around Johnson: probably Johnson and a guy like Steve Johnson or Mike Wright.

This would be a rather stupid move on the part of the Orioles considering Bundy and Gausman are nearing Baltimore 8-)

When a young pitcher like Porcello is dealt the return is often a guy like Johnson.

Detroit is apparently looking for OF help and a reliever so it probably would not end up being Steve Johnson anyway.

I never believed BOTH Johnson's would be involved in the trade. I was just questioning a different poster's assumption.

We have a lot of OF prospects but, IMO, none have distinguished themselves enough to be in demand by another team. How nice would it be to meet Detroit's needs and get Castellanos and Porcello back?

I made a comment saying that nobody in their right mind would trade Porcello for a relief pitcher and how I think Porcello is the exact type of pitcher they should go after and he should flourish pitching with a good defense behind him like the O's should have this year and it's gone.

That's strange.

I agree with this, not even mentioning his potential for growth outside of those factors you mentioned.
