Game 1: Orioles @ Rays - 4/1/2011

Now the O's need to capitalize on what was a major problem last year: making the most of opportunities.

I remember multiple times last year where they had a runner on third with one our no outs and failed to score.

Beautiful work. Now that he is in the 2 hole he can focus on making some more contact just as he did there. Doesn't have to be the guy and drive in everyone with homers. He can just focus on being him.

No doubt. Pretty piece of hitting right there.

Finally the Orioles learned something

Whenever you have a pitcher working on a quick rhythm, you force him to throw pitches. These guys tend to rush and the command goes when the go through multiple pitches per batter.

Guithrie is what he is....after a few innings he tends to rush as well. At least he has it on a string tonight to keep them honest. Whenever he can pull up, it makes his game a bit more effective and more room for errors.

Specifically with a guy like Price. You have to knock him out of the game and force him to work. Don't give him 1,2,3 pitch at bats like they were in the first two innings.

Scott looks a bit awkward in the field, but gets the job done. I think some will be surprised with his fielding once more games have gone by.

As I recall that was one of the main issues early on last year. They were swinging way too early, not working the count and letting starters off easy. Well that and the fact that Gonzalez couldn't get anyone out in the ninth.
