Ryan Berry was the Orioles’ 9th round selection in the 2009 MLB draft. He dominated the South Atlantic League in his first taste of professional baseball, but has since been held back by shoulder injuries that have also forced him to the bullpen.

He pitched most of 2012 with the Keys, struck out 43 batters in 67 innings and gave up just 3 home runs. He made one appearance with the Baysox, where he tossed 3 scoreless innings.

2013 Top 50 List
45. Ryan Berry
46. Tyler Kelly
47. Zach Clark
48. Mychal Givens
49. Ashur Tolliver
50. Brady Wager

Thanks Jordan.

The ranking kind of surprises me though. I know he's had injuries and was not a blow it by anyone type. Though being young and still having some time I'd thought he would've ranked in the mid-30s.

His ceiling just isn't high enough for me to rank higher and there's obviously still a pretty good chance he gets hurt again just based on his past. There are some other high upside arms I'd take over him.

I can understand why you would question his placement based on his potential, but I think he's had enough time in the minors to evaluate him on his performance. IMO where Jordan has placed him is appropriate.

If he pitches to his potential next season and avoids any further injury issues he could climb up the list very quickly.

True. The list is based upon right now. Not what could be.

I suppose it's just disappointment when a young man's ceiling appears limited.

That whole draft class is really disappointing. So many injuries. If Berry never got hurt he looked like a mid-rotation starter, but at least he still has some potential.

What happened to this guy? I thought he was a pretty good prospect.? Now, he has a WHIP close to 3.0000 as a reliever in the Independent League.
