On December 8th, 2011, the Orioles dealt LHP Jarret Martin to the Dodgers for Dana Eveland.
At the time, Eveland was a non-tender candidate and many wondered why Duquette traded for someone who may have been released within the next week.
I always liked Martin's power arsenal and questioned the deal at the time. Eveland did pitch 32.1 innings for the Orioles but put up 0 fWAR due to his 4.86 FIP.
Martin posted a strong K rate, good GB rate, and held hitters to a .221 average this year in A-ball. He was old for the level but his stuff remains outstanding and I think he's still a solid relief prospect.
Duquette mostly made up for the Henry trade and this trade by acquiring Jason Hammel, but he may have dealt two future relievers for pieces that did not really benefit the Orioles.
