A 22nd round in the 2009 draft, Cameron Coffey signed for an over-slot bonus of $990,000 and is one of many talented young arms from that class working their way up the system. He underwent Tommy John Surgery in 2009 and spent most of 2010 working back from a shoulder injury before making his pro debut in the GCL. He made 7 appearances totaling 11 innings, allowing 19 hits while striking out 8.

Out of all the injury babies in the lower ranks, this is the guy that has the highest ceiling. He has the stuff of top of the rotation and it comes from the left side. He has alot of projection left in him as he can eaily pack a bit more in the rear on the frame. I clearly have said this numerous times, but when the boy learns to properly train and build on his base he will most likely correct his previous issues.

Getting him in a regular program, taking thier time with him this season, he should be on a path to jump up the rankings and be the next minor lefty in line of the last two going to Baltimore.

Any feedback on how our Minor League guys are doing this spring? How about any standouts or guys playing better than what was projected? Do you know when the rosters will be set and the players get to their respective teams? If the the young guys play with the enthusiasm the that is being shown by the big team, we should have a very exciting year to look forward to.

I will have some information from minor league camp soon. The rosters come out 2-3 days before spring training is over.
