My assumption is a Baltimore beat writer has already made light of this information, but Brian Ward is one of the Taxi Squad player for AFL. Mike Wright is suppose to be the other Taxi Squad pitcher, but that was not a lock. I am not quite sure who was designated at this time.

Taxi Squad players are eligible to play on Wednesdays and Saturdays of the week.

It gets Brian at least around the ball park an extra month of this season, and greatly helps with the amount of time he missed this spring.

I would be all for limiting Mike's exposure, a pitcher that I think has taken a huge stride in one season. He really looks the part of an innings eater, at the least, and a good fall could have him knocking on the door for a spot in the rotation next spring.

I agree with this. I think Mike was one of the most impressive pitchers I saw in the system this season.

As soon as I saw his name on the AFL roster I knew that the team was considering him as an option for some point in 2013. I would like the FO to pick up at least two veteran free agent SPs on one year contracts this winter so that pitchers like Dylan Bundy and Wright won't be rushed, but he (and MAYBE Bobby Bundy) could see Baltimore next year.

Why is Schrader a surprise needs to work on cutting down the walks. He could probably pitch in Baltimore next year if he cuts down on the walks.

On the face of it the numbers are impressive; however, they should be viewed with the following as perspective. First, the AFL is a hitter's league. OPS numbers above .900 are not unusual. Second, his numbers are from a smaller sampling than some of the other players. If he maintains this level of performance the team will have to rethink whether he should start at Bowie or Norfolk.
