Is re-signing Rick Peterson the #1 priority this off season?

Is re-signing Rick Peterson the #1 priority this off season?

He turned around the career of Tillman and looks like he has made major improvements to Arrieta and maybe even Hunter.

Is signing this guy not more important than any trade that might happen this off season?

If he can fix pitching, and turn Arrieta into a long term reliable starter... YES!!!!

If he can turn Matusz into a long term reliable starter... He's a Godsend!!!!

Honestly I suspect its going to be more than just one guy that turns the farm system into winning pipeline to the MLB, but if it helps pay the man.

I don't know about #1 priority but it should be near the top of the list.

I posted this on September 17th

IMO the most important signing we can make this winter is a generous extension for Rick Peterson. Our pitching development and evaluation program needs some COMPETENT stability for a few years so we can get the best out of the talent we have. Just ONE year of that ludicrous Kevin Gregg contract would probably make Peterson happy for at least the next ten years. I'm not suggesting THAT kind of extension. I'm just showing how poorly we have spent the money. Too often, the focus is spending the money on what goes on the field. As our bullpen showed this year you can get a LOT more on field production by proper scouting, evaluation, and instruction.

and this on October 3rd

I would see an investment into a long term contract for Rick Peterson and the addition of a team in the Venezuela Summer League, another team in the Dominican Summer League, as well as another team in a rookie league as a sign that PA finally gets it.

Mark me down as a H@LL YES!!

No Doubt...Paying someone like this extra, even above the industry high, matters millions when putting the value on the pitchers he improves.

Besides adding a TOR guy, yes with no question. I would give him more money and expand his role if necessary 8-)
