Steve Johnson listed as the starter on Saturday vs Boston

Steve Johnson listed as the starter on Saturday vs Boston

A little tidbit in Roch's most recent blog. http://www.masnsports.com/school_of_roc ... -game.html
As for the rotation this weekend, the Red Sox's game notes list Chris Tillman as Friday night's starter for the Orioles, followed by Steve Johnson on Saturday. Sunday is TBA. The Orioles still haven't sent out their notes.

Nice to see him rewarded as he has earned it.

3.28 FIP and 2.12 ERA as a starter. Kind of unbelievable.

As someone who has literally K'd to Steve in his lifetime, I couldn't be more proud of him.
I still think he is more bullpen arm than SP, but he's earned everything this season. You can never fault someone for that.

I could see him as the long man and emergency starter next season.

I agree. I could also see him being dealt to a team in the NL.

What types of trades do you see the team pursuing?

I'm not quite sure at this point but Duquette has said he expects to be active on the trade market this winter. Honestly, I would not be surprised to see Hardy dealt. I could see them moving Hardy, pushing Machado to SS, and dealing for a 3B.

I've posted on several occasions that I thought they might trade Hardy for a package that they would offer (maybe with a sweetner or two) to San Diego for Headley. With Gyorko ready for the "show" SD can't just hold on to Headley when they could get at least two important pieces and some additional quality pitching.

I am torn on trading Hardy.. He brings so much that doesnt show up on the stat sheet but adds up to wins...I understand he would be part of a trade that would be intended to get Machado to SS and a bat at 3b, but what if he was moved to 2b instead? He has had at times a balky shoulder so he might be talked into a move to take ease off his shoulder...This is doubtful but again, he brings so much that adds to our wins. He also could still captain the infield and mentor Machado and we would have one of the best defensive infields in the majors..we are also as good as team right now from the left side...Tough decision...

I had thought about that but it REALLY depend on whether we could find a solid 3B AND whether the team believes that Brian Roberts will make a full time contribution next year. I doubt that Hardy would be willing to make that move he thought he was taking Roberts' job. I also doubt whether we would have enough trade chips we'd be willing to part with for a talent like Headley if we don't trade Hardy.

Machado at SS and Headley at 3B > Hardy at SS and Machado at 3B

Going to the game tonight. I think its gonna be alot harder to acquire Headley now. I'am not saying the Padres won't do it, but I think it will take more to trade for him now. He's gonna get some MVP votes. His second half is insane.

According to someone on this site the O's would have been stupid to trade for Headley at the trade deadline because he would be worth less in the off season

Anyway, at least Steve kept the team in the game tonight. Not a great outing but still he kept them in it.
