Who will improve in the 2nd half?

Wieters 1st Half: .247/.327/.431

Flaherty 1st Half: .213/.242/.289
Flaherty 2nd Half: .250/.327/.523 (small sample size, but thats pretty impressive.)

*Hunter and Matusz have both made a succesful temporary transition to the bullpen so they deserve credit too. But I think the obvious choice is Mark Reynolds. Defense alone has been a huge boost, but his bat has been impressive. He wasn't gonna finish the year with approx a dozen homers.

Reynolds SECOND half with the level of defense he's playing there now MIGHT justify an 11M contract, but we will have to play him ALL season and would have no idea when he would go into one of his protracted cold spells at the plate. Having an above league average 1B for half of a season is not an option for a contending team. His defense is just not good enough to carry that bat for three months of sub par performance.

If Reynolds would make some improvements in his range and, more importantly, start taking pitches he can't pull to the opposite field THEN IMO he would be worth an 11M contract.

I guess you're right. I just wanted to include them because they sucked at starting and look great relieving. And I actually meant to say Hunter and Matusz. So I'll change that.
