Orioles are 9-4 since Markakis broke his thumb

Nothing has been able to stop the O's this year.

Since Markakis broke his thumb:
- Matt Wieters has a .528 wOBA
- Adam Jones .383 wOBA
- Nate McLouth .350 wOBA
- Chris Davis .375 wOBA

Someone always steps up. Or in this case, lots of players.

I have really been impressed with his maturation as a hitter. Look at his numbers for hitting outside pitches in July and August; then look at September. He's a completely different guy. He's now taking that outside pitch to LF, and doing it with power. As strong as he is it should come as a surprise that he could do so.

I wish Mark Reynolds would take notice of that. Reynolds is a MUCH better defender at 1B than Davis, but Davis is becoming a more complete hitter. It would not surprise me to see Davis put up Adam Dunn level numbers next year, but with a better average. If Reynolds became a more complete hitter we would have a really strong one - two left - right punch in the Six and Seven holes.

I think they said if they make the playoffs he would have a shot at playing in the ALCS.
