8/14/12 Minor League Gameday Thread

Aberdeen: OFF

Two DH today with Bowie and Delmarva.
Jordan and I will be there for Bundy tonight. I'll probably stick around for the second game too.

Today is also the NYPL All-Star Game. Joel Hutter, Lucas Herbst and Sam Kimmell will be playing in it.

Enojoy Bundy. Is the a first for you guys? I don't recall if you've seen him yet. If not, make sure you are in your seats early enough to watch him loosen up. It is really a site to see.

I haven't (I don't know HOW, since I have seen everyone else haha).
Jordan has though.
And we are getting there for BP. Watching Schoop BP is well worth the trip alone.

Bundy was much better than the line looks tonight.

While umpires should never be entirely blamed for anything,this guy was not very good tonight. Umps have bad days every once in a while so. He missed a lot of calls on the corners that the crowd was giving him a hard time for. They were blatant misses otherwise I wouldn't even bring it up. Jordan will be able to enlighten you guys on that much more later on as he was charting.

Bundy threw mostly fastballs. I mean there were innings where 90% of his pitches were fastballs. Again, we will have more on that later, but it's important to remember he doesn't even have his full arsenal yet and he still was impressive.

He was throwing 94-95 MPH mostly while touching 97. The most impressive sequence was a 95 MPH fastball followed by an 86 MPH change up. He just fooled hitters with that all night. I have watched a lot of pitching this season and he was very impressive against players 4-5-6-7-8 years older than him.

Brian Ward was REALLY good behind the plate today. He constantly impresses me with his blocking skills and laser beam arm.
It's a pleasure watching him. He has all the great things you look for in a backup catcher in the MLB.
If the bat ever comes around just a little, it will be icing on the cake.

Ben interviewed Bundy after the game and will have a bit more on his cutter sometime this week.

He won't be throwing it at all this year.
