Each position requires different emphasis on different muscle groups. You have a good work out for someone your age; however, you're coming to the point where you should start making a plan with a qualified professional to focus on the position(s) you want to play.

The muscles used in pitching can be so fragile that there's NO "fool proof" plan to avoid injury; however, the routine that Dylan Bundy uses may the closest there is.

The best way to avoid shoulder injuries for a pitcher to build strong legs. Since they are the largest muscle group "a few weeks" of an exercise routine ain't gonna cut it.

How do you know he only worked out for a few weeks?

Also, how do you know Steve Johnson worked his tail off?

Matt, you're arguing in circles now. I've read enough of your post to KNOW that that you consume a great deal of information about this team. Your understanding of the game is too good to be just pulling it out of your butt.

We've both read the same things. Perhaps we just have a different take on it.

I just would like to know where you have read about how hard Steve Johnson worked other than basing it off the fact he wasn't a top prospect.

Start with Steve Melewski's posts. He does a good job with it.

I have also listened to his dad on the radio. He's been very candid about what Steve has done. You may also remember that Steve signed a minor league contract with the Orioles last fall without exploring the opportunity to sign a ML deal with another club JUST so he could go to the AFL and show what he could do. IMO he deserves whatever success he has.

Nobody is saying he doesn't deserve success.

Than what was the point of the "IMO he deserves whatever success he has."?

I'm not disagreeing about anything. I'm just trying to figure out how you came to your conclusions is all.

Sucks for Steve as he had to pitch the final 2 innings tonight. Looks like he likely will not start Saturday at Detroit now.

All he has done all year is pitch well in every position we've put him in. Baltimore Bullpen, Baltimore Rotation, Norfolk Rotation, Norfolk Bullpen. As Adam Wolff said "its just a bresh of fresh air seeing these guys (Johnson, Gonzalez) succeed when our 'top prospects' aren't. Not saying these guys will have better careers in the long run than our 'can't miss guys (Arrieta, Britton)' but these guys are throwing well now and DERSERVE every chance to be in the rotation.
