I don't know how old you are but Rodrigo Lopez gave us the same kind of boost when he was found in the Mexican League. The ML finally caught up with him and he ran out of adjustments. I look forward to seeing what Miguel has up his sleeve.

Well he can't keep pitching like his last two outings, thats for sure. Even if he never records another out for the Orioles, it was still a succesful minor league signing. He's a strike-thrower, and he's poised (two things I like). His fastball is sneaky but at some point or the other I think it doesn't become so sneaky and he gets in trouble with the homerun. But I love what he has done so far and I hope he proves me wrong.

I remember Rodrigo. He's still around in AAA somewhere I think. He could have been a good reliever if he didn't despise the idea when he was sent there originally. Nobody is saying Gonzalez is a future top or even mid rotation starter. He could be a back of the rotation innings eater though.

I got the impression Rodrigo was one of those guys one of his managers here referred to (anonymously) when he talked about players who were happy to be in the minor leagues, but unwilling to work to improve once he got here. His best performances came because he thought he was a starter, but was placed in the bullpen and had something to prove. That happened twice.

I suspect Gonzales is going to be better. Some people think the hitters will stop swinging at the slider in the dirt, but they never stopped swinging at Steve Carlton's slider in the dirt for 22 years. Not saying he's that good, but I think there might be more going on there than some people think.

I've been really impressed by him. He just simply knows how to pitch.
Never going to wow anyone, but Palmer illustrated how he throws the balls right where it works, locates well.
The pitch the Agon where he flied out to deep center was actually a perfect pitch.

He's been a really nice find.

I mentioned this in a tweet to Tucker, but Gonzalez is a breath of fresh air. Were scouts all over him, raving about any of his characteristics or his stuff? Nope. But he's having success at the major league level. Maybe he doesn't have a long, storied career (maybe he does?), but he's doing something right now that some of our more 'can't miss' guys can't do.

I think he's an awesome story and I couldn't be happier for him.
