Simon to be cleared in murder case

Orioles pitcher Alfredo Simon, who remains in a Dominican Republic jail as a suspect in a fatal shooting incident on New Year's Day, is expected to be found not guilty -- and could be released within the next week to 10 days, two separate sources told MLB.com on Sunday night.

This is definitly great news for Alfredo and his family.

It is good to hear that he is cleared of any wrong doing, but it does not mean that he will be with the Orioles anytime soon. He must first obtain a Visa and that is easier said than done for anyone who is surrounded by a crime. Whether he did anything or not, it is known that he possessed a gun and shot it in the air at some time. Immigration will use this information to weigh a work visa. If anything, they will draw out the process and make him jump through hoops to attain one.

In the greater scheme of life, this is small spect of dust. He is free from a non-crime and allowed to be with his friends and family, which is the greatest thing in life.

His lawyer needs the OJ defense. If the glove did not fit, you must aquit.

We hear the balllistic report did not match the gun to the bullet. I think this plus compounded that many more individuals did the same exact thing is enough beyond reasonible doubt.

I still lack the understandment that he can sit in jail for a year while under a grand jury type indictment and without charges. How he can still be in prison without formally charging is beyond my compehension?

Best part is how they talked about Simon trying to pay the family $$$$ and the prosecutor saying it didn't matter, it was still a civil case. Alfredo, pay the prosecutor and see how fast you get out.

No. The restricted list is used for players who are not on the team due to non-baseball reasons (for the most part). It basically means that he is not taking up a roster spot, is not getting paid, but if he were to ever return to MLB, the Orioles have the rights to his services.
