Yes he does indeed! To be honest I wasn't too happy when we traded for him in the offseason. Not because he's not a good player but simply because there are a few positions that I don't like to give up prospects for when you haven't had a winning record in 14 years and back up catcher is one of those positions. He's been injured most of the year but he's handled the pitching staff better than anyone not named Wieters and he seems to have a knack for clutch hitting.

Gotta love going four and two on a six game road trip to New York and Tampa in August. Very impressive even if Tampa isn't as strong as years past. God it feels good to be relevant!

I wish Buck would play him more. Wieters even has caught day games after night games sometimes this year. I don't know that Wieters would live up to the .300/30 switch hitting Jesus hype when he was a prospect if he got more rest but one would have to imagine his numbers would improve. Let Wieters DH once a week and get a day off once a week IMO.

At worst I would try and match up Teagarden and Hunter every five days 8-)

That sounds good. I know he had one really good start with Tea behind the plate. Mentioning the obvious here, but they have ties from Texas.

I don't think Taylor is ever going to be a backup guy that hits .300 for us, but he seems to do a tremendous job defensively for us when he is in the game. Anything extra, like tonight, is a bonus.

What kind of back-up catcher hits .300?

He's had two spectacular game-winning hits, but he's still only 3-for-28 w/14 strikeouts.I'd be thrilled if he can give you the D and game-calling behind the plate and a .240 BA.

So, basically you'd be thrilled if he was Matt Wieters?
