Is there a reason there is no long reliever in the bullpen?

Dana Eveland, Steve Johnson, Brad Bergesen, Miguel Socolovich, etc. have all gone up and down (and in Bergesen's case to Arizona) and they continue to fill the bullpen with guys who are suited for 1 or 2 inning stints.

It really makes no sense to not have a long man in the bullpen when the only proven consistent pitcher in the rotation is Chen.

I haven't noticed that. Hmm not sure, that would've been a good thing to trade for since the Phillies weren't giving us Blanton unless we gave up Schoop -_-.

Britton just threw 40 pitches in the 2nd inning and is now at 59 pitches after 2 innings and Kevin Gregg was warming in the pen. It looks like it will be another game that they will be lucky to get 5 innings out of the starter.

Now Kevin Gregg has to pitch in the bottom of the 3rd with 2 outs. Hopefully this will teach them to call up a long reliever and keep him up for good.

At this point, I would cut Gregg and recall Berken just to find that guy who could go 3-4 innings.

Then they'd have to bring up Matusz or Arrieta.

Again, Gregg had to warm up during the 2nd inning. You just can't go without a long reliever when you have Britton, Tillman, and Hunter in the rotation.
