Clubs that have spoken with the ‪#Orioles‬ say they've shifted away from Matt Garza. Now poking around on Jason Vargas.

Orioles can no longer trade with the Cubs now that MacPhail is gone.

I don't see a reason to trade for Vargas. I don't think he's a good fit. At all.

My guess is Theo is looking for Machado or Schoop. End of discussion 8-)

The scariest thing about a potential Vargas deal.

Home ERA: 3.59 in 376.0 IP
Road ERA: 5.35 in 362.0 IP

Not all of those home starts are in Safeco, as he played for the Marlins and Mets for a little bit. But regardless, that's just scary. 105 G's with the Mariners compared to 31 with Mets/Marlins.

Vargas is no better than the guys we already have. He is not worth trading for. Of all the scenarios I've heard this is by far the worst.
Please don't bring in any more scrap heap players, we have to many of those type players as it is.

Not a fan at all and I am also not surprised at all. It's going to be very hard to get a top of the rotation starter without including Bundy or Machado in a deal. If they are also against trading Schoop this is the type of pitcher they are going to acquire. I don't expect anything more than a Vargas, Saunders, Colon, etc. to be added to the rotation.

I wouldn't mind seeing Colon but he too might get a bit pricy and dealing with Billy Bean is always a red flag 8-)

Part of me has optimism for this move that I'd never have if not for the miraculous success of the Jason Hammel dumpster dive. It's the same part of me that's irrationally excited about Miguel Gonzalez being in the rotation.

We've had success on reclamation projects from Mexico before. Rodrigo Lopez was a decent #4 SP.

Rodrigo and his 6 innings would look great in this rotation now 8-)
