How Many Aces In MLB?

Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors posted a discussion topic today titled: How Many Aces In MLB?

He lists 18 pitchers as who he believes to be aces, and 8 on the bubble guys.

While Guthrie's stats may not add up career-wise to most of these guys, would you include Guts in the "on the bubble" section? It's a tempting thought, but most likely bias from my view. Of course Zach Britton's stats so far are matching up with an ace's this season, but he has 6 ML starts, so that's completely out of the question.

Take a look at the list and share who you think should/shouldn't be on the list, and who should be moved between the two categories even.

Guthrie has four plus pitches at his disposal with solid command and control of all four. If baseball's brightest want to dismiss him for anything other than some number 2 pitcher, they have been wrong a lot over the years. If he were pitching for the Yankees or Red Soxs, he would be the "next coming".

Not sure if all 4 of his pitches are plus pitches, but when he can locate the fastball and even throw his off speed stuff for strikes (not the slider), he can be dominant. Maybe it's his strikeout numbers that keep him off these lists? Who knows.
