Surprising move considering they are re-building. I guess they want a quality, reliable pitcher who should eat some innings.

I don't have a problem with the AAV, but I would not have offered him more than three years.

Here's another example of these so-called "reporters" trying to beat every to the punch. He completely did an about face after Heyman spoke of the Tigers being given an opportunity of signing Sanchez.

If I were the Cubs, as soon as he agreed to terms with them and then started shopping it around I would have held a press conference and said they were no longer interested in him. You can only imagine how that would have wrecked his leverage with the Tigers.

Because what would it do? Just because they say they are out doesn't mean any other team trying to sign him is. Also, it would probably have their agent pretty annoyed with the Cubs and look negatively at them with his/future clients.
